The annual camp season saw Cpl Leon Sielski and Cdt Calum Walsh, along with OC128 Flt Lt Katie Macpherson, head off for a week on camp at RAF Benson, with cadets from other squadrons in the Wing.
With a visit to The RAF Museum, section visits to the fire section, Regiment Flight, 28 Sqn and others, the cadets really got a taste for life in The Royal Air Force. Every cadet on camp was also lucky enough to fly in the Chinook helicopter, and for Cdt Walsh, he had another first, with his first Air Experience Flight (AEF) in the Grob Tutor.
On the final day of camp it was families’ day and the cadets settled down in the perfect viewing location to watch the aircraft displays. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, consisting of the Lancaster Bomber and Spitfire resonated through the sky, before the Tiger Moth and then Blades performed aerobatics. The Red Arrows were also present and landed before performing their full flying display later on in the afternoon, which meant the cadets could meet some of the pilots, as well as be given a close-up view of the aircraft.
Final parade came and Cpl Leon Sielski was awarded Best Bowler on camp (it didn’t include staff otherwise the Boss would have won!).
It was a fantastic week and we are looking forward to the next camp!
