128 (Barrow) Squadron have been very lucky to receive the £1000 donation from the Lake District Farmers Armstrong Family Trust Charitable Fund for the month of May. This money is a massive boost for the Squadron, which currently has very little in the way of training equipment.
Sports is a core activity of the Air Cadets and the Squadron can now purchase a range of equipment to introduce the cadets to lots of different sports, as well as enabling the cadets to improve their health and fitness, with sports like basketball, hockey and volleyball soon to be on the programme.
Flt Lt Katie Macpherson, Officer Commanding 128 (Barrow) Squadron said, ‘This money is a welcome boost to the Squadron as we currently have limited funds and training equipment, meaning we have to rely on others to help us when we want to offer certain activities. With this money, we can purchase our own equipment and therefore these activities can now be a regular feature on our training programme. This is a first step to driving Squadron improvement, particularly in the area of health and fitness.’
