Team 128 took part in Wing Training Day 2017, held at Kirkham Grammar School, on Sunday 23rd April. All 11 cadets from the Squadron represented the unit and for the first time in many years, they entered every competition, including their own drill and banner drill teams.
It was a lot of hard work during the run-up to the day of the competition and whilst we knew that some aspects needed work, the effort put in meant that the day went well.
Notable achievements include the Squadron coming 1st in the Uniform inspections out of 33 Squadrons and 4th in the Banner drill, which is a fantastic achievement for the team of five cadets, as they had never done Banner drill before and learnt the routine in one month.
Flt Lt Katie Macpherson, Officer Commanding 128 (Barrow) Squadron said, ‘The cadets and staff have worked extremely hard to get the Squadron entering every competition. The Squadron is going through lots of transitions as we start to fully function as a Squadron and this effort is a great achievement and allows us to build on it for next year. We hope that with more cadets next year, we will be able to improve our performance once again and show Cumbria and Lancashire Wing that #team128 are a force to be reckoned with.’
With a new recruit intake day on the 4th May and another recruit intake planned for later on in the year, I think we can safely say that 128 Squadron is certainly on the up!
